Norcold problem Fixed I think.

Hi Friends,
New problem with Norcold 1200, Runs perfect on electric, plenty cold etc. Doesn't automatically switch to propane. Check light comes on, NO propane (Tanks are full) I turn on and off several times, doesn't light. Leave alone for 10 mins, turn on then smack the gas valve and it lights.

Any ideas?

I turned the gas valve off and on, Then blew the dirt from the burner,
seems to work fine, plugged in and unplugged, it works.

    lets see, replace the CU with an Amish, upwards of $1000 dollars. OR, replace the Gas Valve---$100 on a refer that is cooling correctly. ONLY makes sense to you. Doug

    lets see, replace the CU with an Amish, upwards of $1000 dollars. OR, replace the Gas Valve---$100 on a refer that is cooling correctly. ONLY makes sense to you. Doug

    No brainer----If you thump the gas valve and gas flows, the gas valve is defective. REPLACE IT. Doug

    Open up the box that has the flame. Lots of time rust falls down and shorts out the firing.

    Try turning the valves on slowly. They have a pressure safety in them. If the pressure changes rapidly it will shut off.

    What is the recall for? I had the updated heat sensor installed in January. Are they replacing the heating units?

    Be sure to check and see if your Norcold refrigerator has been recalled on their website. A lot of the 1200's have been recalled,including ours. Our recall parts are on order now. Possible fire hazard!
