After a couple weeks, a service tech has said it's definitely the thing they put on the Norcold refrigerator a couple years ago when they had that recall. He said all he gets done is replacing these and that Norcold gives them such a hard time about replacing them. On top of that, he said Norcold doesn't want to pay hardly anything when they are replaced! If there is such a problem with these things, why can't something be done to Norcold? The service tech said Dometic uses a much simpler deal to prevent overheating.
Your 1200 has the ONLY Thermocoupler system that Norcold uses. NO OTHER refer or model uses this specific recall kit. Norcold will pay for a DEFECTIVE 1200 recall kit if it cannot be reset and is defective. Norcold will not pay to reset them or to pay for the operational check to verify that the cooling unit is OK and the recall did not trip from a bad cooling unit. Norcold pays the exact same labor to replace as they did to install the kit. Same time to do that is involved. We charge .5 labor to reset and verify the cooling unit integrity. IF the recall kit needs replaced we get an additional .5 from Norcold to replace it. You MUST replace the complete kit, not just the black box. Doug
