The difference is just a little, but the benefits of AGMs is supposedly better in that they recharge to capacity much better. Standard batteries loose their peak amp hours, less and less with every recharge. It won't take long before the AGMs become the better performer in the field.
Hi Tree,
This is not correct. For example a group 29 flooded vs a group 29 AGM--the AGM may be 100 amp-hours and the flooded about 105.TreeSeeker wrote:
All the 12v AGM batteries I have seen have about half the amp hours of a lead acid battery. So using two 12v AGM batteries in parallel would only give you about the same amp hours as one lead acid battery.
That is what I gathered on this forum. That is why I am buying two of THESE 6V AGM batteries from Sam's Club in the spring. They are $180 each but I need to forget about the x2 cost and give them a try. It would also be convenient to install the batteries and never worry about acid levels and boil-overs. I am so tired of cleaning up boil-overs with our pair of 12Vs.
The Sam's Club website indicated my local store did not carry them, but when I called the store, they said they had piles of them. So keep that in-mind.
