The reason that I went with AGM batteries is because my RV lacks the space for additional batteries. My choice was to either rig something on the exterior - which is both costly and impractical - or place an AGM under the seat of my dining area. I'm going to try my setup out on my next trip. If I still run low on juice, I'll go for solar.
On my last trip, temps dipped down into the low 30's/high 20's. I didn't run the heater at all during the night. Just used a thick comforter. Then I ran the heater in the morning to warm things up. I don't expect to get into much colder weather than that. I'm in San Diego and don't intend to head too far north during the winter months.
This thread has been helpful because now I have a much better idea of the dynamics surrounding my battery power. Before i was scratching my head and upset because it didn't work. Now I will at least know why and can take steps to avoid running my system down. Thanks everyone!
