Novice LED Bulb Question

I have a light fixture which has FIVE 1076 bulbs. I have found an LED bulb which is a 1076. Is it as easy as paying the high price for the LEDs and just replacing the bulbs, or is there a wiring change to be made. Thanks.

  • Hi,

led's do not need to be expensive to be good. Find out the color range and the lumins.

Yes it's as easy as taking the old out and putting the LED in. I would suggest something like this as three may be as bright as the five you are replacing. I would buy 6 of them but I like the warm white over the bright white. No reason to pay $12 for one with fewer leds (not as bright) and they are all made in China. $28,34 for six delivered.
    I would stick with a 1076 as a 1156 is a combination parking and turn/brake bulb.

Thanks for the reply but I do not understand your reply. My fault, not yours. The bulbs I need for the fixture are 1076 not 1156. There are five of them hanging down toward a computer desktop. I just want to be able to reach up, removce the current bulbs and replace them with the LEDs I have found here.

Sure looks like a direct replacement bulb to me. I swapped all mine out a few years ago. As others have said, no wiring work required.
The bulb description says "warm white". That's what mine are. Good to read by.
    Enjoy:

Generally, it is as easy as swappign the lamps.. HOWEVER.. Some caution...

My first venture into the wonderful world of LED lighting was a bust, I ordered a small number of LED 1156... Well they had about half or less the light output and very very blue, they were basically NOT even close to a genuine 1156

Since then I have learned,, buy one.. if you like it buy more. That works well

My recommendation: Buy one, and if you like it buy more of the same and please, post the source.
  • The answer to your question is no, there's no wiring to do. Just plug in the LED's and enjoy.
  • As easy as googling led bulb with 1156 base. Then pricing them out and searching for best price.

  • I replaced similar bulbs (1141) in our rig with LEDs and they just plugged right into existing socket with no change to wiring. We've done a full interior conversion to LEDs with most replacments purchased from Ebay along with a handful purchased from USA (about 4X the price) sources. They all were manufactured in China and have performed flawlessly with zero failures after 3 years of service. They sip current compared to their incandescent counterparts and run so much cooler, we just love them and our battery bank hardly notices their use. Great mod for those who camp off the grid often.
  • Depending on the fixture 120 degree (one side only) arrays and there are two approaches SMD arrays with a base adapter, probably least expensive with the array double stick VHB taped to the fixture or 120 LED like
