Oasis Antifreeze

2012 Newmar Dutch Star with Oasis heating system. Shortly before coach was a year old I noticed the reservoir in the back (blue(ish) liquid) was down almost to the "min fill when cold line". When we went for the annual service, I informed the tech that I had noticed it. He said he would check when he serviced it. It is a tech I trust. I noticed after he was done that it was about up to 1/2 way between min and max fill. He said he found no leaks. That was the first part of March of this year. Well, about a month ago I noticed it was down again. I called Oasis and they said possibly air got in the lines and to just add a bit more, which I did. I put it back to 1/2 way between min and max. In my pre-trip check today I noticed it is almost back down to the min fill line again. I see nothing on the ground and I see nothing on top of the Oasis unit, where the hose enters. As I am mechanically stupid, not sure what else to do. Any assistance/thoughts? Thank you in advance.
  • I don't know where you are in Tennessee, but Oasis's (ITR's) site shows a servicing dealer in Knoxville.
  • Oasis was not too much help. I added more antifreeze and, this morning, noticed it has dropped about 1/2 an inch. We have a problem of some type. Now, I look on the Oasis website and they list virtually nothing as far as service goes. So, will call a dealership and see if they can take a look. Not sure what else to do.
  • Thanks all. I will try and give Oasis a call this coming week. Wish I was more handy, but I do the best I can! Will let you know what I find out.
  • Hi Devonm2012,
I had the same problem of loosing boiler fluid in the expansion tank
and replaced it with the CAMCO,pink boiler antifreeze(concentrate,to be diluted) from Camping World.PS:I found NO leak.
But you can contact the OASIS people:

  • Sorry to see you're not getting any answers here. I have an Oasis hydronic system in my Mandalay, and I've only had to add fluid (I used Camco boiler fluid, I think) once in 3+ years.

Your best bet might be Roger Berke, the guru of Aqua-Hot and similar systems. I don't think Roger deals with Oasis systems as much, but the design is similar, so he might have an idea or two.

My own thoughts, for what it's worth:
    - best case, you still have some air in the lines, which may be working its way out as you top off the fluid and run the system.
    - otherwise, it's leaking somewhere, either to the outside (you would need to check every part of the system, including all hoses and blower units throughout the coach), or via the heat exchanger coils into your water supply (though I think you'd have noticed this by now).

Do you have the engine heat feature (called Motor-Aide in the Aqua-Hot units), where you can use the Oasis to pre-heat your engine, or vice versa? If so, I guess that's another possible avenue for leakage.

    Good luck -
