Odometer Reset

Has anybody had any problems with their odometer resetting on a Freightliner chassis? Mine has done it twice now. My 8 year old motorhome now has 275 miles on it. It happens when the chassis batteries get too low to turn the engine over and I try and start it. I had it at a Freightliner shop for service last year and I asked them to try and reset the odometer to the correct setting and they were unable to do it. I had been told by somebody on here that the computers would store the actual mileage and that the odometer could be reset to match what was in the computer, but the service manager at Freightliner told me he had never heard of that.

Anybody else have this issue? It's not a problem right now but it's going to be an issue when I try and sell it someday. I know how many miles are on it and it's low for it's age, but is a buying going to believe me?

(And please don't write and tell me I'm looking at the tripometer, I know what I'm looking at.)
  • That's good info at the link, but there is conflicting info on whether Freightliner can get the correct mileage to display or not. I guess as long as the can get the correct mileage from the ECM I'll be okay. When it comes time to sell this thing I'll just have to go have a printout done for a buyer.
