offering a price on a used motorhome

I bought my last one at about 60% below NADA wholesale......yes, there were issues, but nothing I couldn't fix or live with.

HOM if thats the dealer I think it is in Charlotte----I went there to look at one just like mine before I bought it and they dropped the asking price 1/3 without batting an eye....I bought the other one because it was in better shape for the same money------

Years ago we offered 70% of the asking price at a RV show and received a counter offer very near that amount for a used rig. The deal got done.

Remember the dealer may have set their price leaving a cushion for a trade-in deal to sell the coach.

Here's how my story ended. We searched everywhere online and talked directly to dealers on the east coast and determined the coach we liked the most was going to be hard to find. We really didn't care whether we bought from a dealer or individual and even the price (within reason) wasn't as much of an issue as the state of the coach.

Luckily we happened on an individual who seemed to have the same philosophy wrt maintenance (something of a fanatic) but he lived 800 miles away. After LONG conversations, we pretty much agreed on a price before we even went out there. He'd reduced his price about 10% below his original asking price, which had been close to NADA in good condition.

So in the end we happily paid the pre-negotiated price.

btw, buying from an individual turned out, bureaucracy-wise, to be much harder for us than buying from a dealer. In the end, though, we're happy!

Just playing around and found a 2008 42F for $194.900 before first come down.
Have you ben in coaches with opposing slides? You can take out a couch and put in desk and chair.

I agree as well. This is like what was previously mentioned to stick with / start with 20% below low NADA. From what I've read wholesale values are at about this amount.

You might try your bank or credit union. When they did the workup on my loan they looked strictly at wholesale prices.

I was at a large dealer last week and they had a 2007 43' American Eagle for $299,000 and the salesman told me straight out $200,000 is doable. I was shocked, all this time I've limited my searches to coaches $25,000 over what I wanted to spend. Finding out I could be looking at something $100,000 over was never in my thought process!

Maybe this was an exception but how many exceptions re out there?
