Reading through this thread.. This is OPINION, and for the record my opinion and (Insert cost of a cup of coffee, do not forget tax and tip) will get you exactly..... One cup of coffee (Possibly with free refills if the place offers them).
When a contract is inked.. That should be final. they should not be calling you up and saying "OH we need more money". Yet many dealers do exactly that.
They **SHOULD** be doing their research BEFORE inking the contract. But alas, in the rush to sale.. Many dealers shortcut, then hit you with the "We need more" bit... In my opinion the buyer has two choices when this happens.
1: And I applaud those who do this, REFUND of down payment and shred the contract.
2: Enforce the original contract. Do not allow them to make the mod.. This, is far more costly.. But it results in the dealer earning profit. which should be denied.
and in both cases.. As the O/P did in this thread (Contacting the manufacturer direct) not a bad idea.. Enough such contacts and the dealer might not be selling new ______s any more (fill in the brand involved).
