We use route 30 across OH and IN to avoid the tolls and truck traffic on I80. Heading west on I80 we pick up I76 to I71 to route 30 near Mansfield OH. We use I65 to rejoin I80 near Gary IN. This route is about 20 miles longer than staying on I80 but a pleasant drive through mostly farm country. Route 30 is divided highway with few traffic lights until Valparaiso IN.
