I have been using nothing but CAT brand oil and fuel filters in my 2007 C-7. I have been recently comparing those to other filters and have found that the WIX filters look pretty darn good. Has anyone had any experience with these good or bad. I do change my oil much more often than recommended by the factory. Please give you honest opinion and experience.

Its hard to beat the products that the manufacture use and recommend. There are lots of people that seem to think they are smarter than the engineers that designed the units. I'm not one of them.

I have a truck not a class A and it has a Cummins and not a Cat, but I use Wix filters and they seem to work well for me.

I personally use Caterpillar for oil and secondary fuel filter(would use Cummins/Fleetguard if I had a Cummins) .I DO use Wix for air filter, primary fuel filter, hydraulic filters, etc.

There is nothing wrong with Wix filters but you probably won't save very much money over a Cat filter. In fact in my case the oil filter for my C7 was less money at my local Cat dealer than my Wix dealer.:)

Best source is Freightliner, Gaffney SC who speced and built your chassis.

Freightliner 800 385-4357 need VIN.

You will have the Caterpillar 3126, Allison 3000 series.

Call Caterpillar with the engine serial number to see if they have any record of the initial valve adjustment being performed: 877 777-3126.

new owner of a tradewinds 35ft.with 300hp cat. made by national mfg 1998 now out of buss. would like someone that has info on all liquids and how much is needed for this unit. unit has 50400 miles.

Get most all my filters from Filter1.com. That would include fuel,air, hydraulic, generator and filter/dryer. Free shipping for 6 or more. You can combine with filters for your car. They are Wix and no problems in 8 years. I believe NASCAR races with Wix.

They sell both WIX and Baldwin.

Ford Diesel:I don't know when you worked for AC Delco but they no longer make any filters. Champion Labs ( not the spark plug people) have been making them for a number of years! At one time Wix made them!

After working for G.M. and A.C./Delphi they make the best filters there is. Tests proved it time and time again. As my uncle used to say "Like Ripley says believe or not."

Fleetguard is OEM for Cummins and Donaldson makes Cat filters . Buy a Wix and then buy one of the above mentioned filters and examine them. The Wix can is thinner. The Wix base is not as heavy and the attachment is not as good. If you were to cut one one the Wix is cheap filter media ( paper). The others use a special synthetic material. End of story.

My opinion is WIX is just about the best filter out there. You pay a premium but WELL worth it. Oil seems to come out a lot cleaner when I use them. Even on professional lawn gear I've had the same results.
