Your Allison 1000 transmission needs it's fluid changed every 25,000 miles, it has a spin-on filter.
It came with Dexron iii and I suggest you switch to Transynd.
The transmission is easy to drain and the filter is orange and looks like a small oil filter. I change the filter every time...it's about $20.
When you drain the transmission use a bucket that has quarts marked on the sides and then refill with that same mount, assuming you checked the transmission fluid before draining and it was full.
It will drain approximately 11 quarts.
The Allison 1000 transmission should be hot and in park with the engine running when you check the level.
Drive for several miles, 25 or more, and then drain and refill again. That ensures a complete change because the torque converter holds a couple quarts that don''t drain.
not sure where you get the idea the Allison needs its fluid changed every 25k miles.... I could of swore my manual said service at 75 0r 80,000... No way the fluid needs changed at 25,000 I will have to check my Manual
outofplace your's is a 2005. They went to Transynd synthetic that year and the change interval is a lot longer.
Bird Freak's was before Transynd too so his is the shorter change interval.
