Oil Change Woes

I like to do most of my own routine maintenance. Oil changes is one of those items that should be easy to do.. messy, but easy. My 2006 GULF STREAM B TOURING CRUISER 5270 Ford E-450 has a 6.0 V8 Turbo Diesel. The only information I can find online is for the Ford Power Stroke 6.0 diesel that shows the oil filter on the top of the engine. As far as I can tell, my oil filter is underneath the frame near the oil pan. So, I have no idea what filter I need. Anyone have a link to how to perform a proper oil change on this beast? This link is not my engine. http://www.powerstrokediesel.com/docs/Oil_Filter_Change_Guide.pdf

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

  • We can close this topic now. The link provided by Pauldub did the trick. From other information I have been able to gather is appears that the oil filter whether on top or underneath the engine is the same... Oil change here I come!
    Thanks!!! :)

  • Here are some pictures of the front of my RV.

It does not look quite like what is displayed in the pdf file. I think that is a picture of a Ford Truck...
  • Google found this for me:

On my 6.0 the oil filter is below the engine, towards the transmission on the drivers side.
  • Do you have the black housing on top of the engine as shown in the PDF you gave us the link to? Underneath near the oil pan is, on some Fords, an external transmission filter. It is inline in a cooler line, but is, I think, right in front of the bellhousing, under the oil pan.

Also, many diesel fuel filters are large and look like spin on oil filters.

The one on top looks easy, very similar to my 5 cyl Sprinter setup.
