How often should you do an oil change on a diesel engine?

IF you have just purchased this unit, and have proof of services. Then your driving has a lot to do with your own service tactics. Weather, dust and highway miles make a lot of difference on engine service. Plus mountains,deserts and such. So get to a dealer and a get a book on that engine.
Find out about it and do not wait for this internet place to say this or that.
I drove for several years 11 western states and Canada. hills and flats, we serviced my truck every 4500 miles and oil was changed every 8000 miles. All filters , that included oil, air and fuel filters.. Remember preventive maintenance is better than emergency repair work.
Not once did I have a break down.
