5W-20 is the recommended oil for all Ford V10's. 5W-30 was originally recommended for the first generation (275 hp) and the early second generation (310 hp) engines. Late in 2002 Ford changed the recommendation to 5W-20. The recommendation for the 3rd generation (362 hp) is still 5W-20. We used 5W-20 in our 2001 (second generation) V10 for over 100,000 miles without a problem. It went from Florida to Alaska, Arizona to New foundland and every place in between without burning a drop or needing any kind of repairs. It's still on the road with it's second owner and they still use 5W-20.
