- IAMICHABODExplorer IITo go along with my Mobil 1 Filter I use Mobil 1 5W-30 As per OEM Specs.
I get it At Walmart, that is the cheapest price around here.
Get the 5 Qt. bottle plus a 1Qt bottle, It takes 6Qts for a filter and oil change. - dnulnojExplorerThank you for the input :)
Ok, what type oil do you recommend now? Anything fancy, or just standard weight? - harold1946Explorer

Thank you for quick response....why would I want a 1qt over a 1/2qt?
The 1/2 qt is OEM standard. Adding the larger size requires additional oil. I know of no practical reason for the larger one.
Or do I physically have to see what current filter I have? No; either will fit.

- j-dExplorer IILarger filter can offer more filtration surface.
More oil can marginally improve oil life and reduce oil temperature. No reason not to use the big one unless it just won't fit. For example, our older Chevy boat engine, a 5.7, is installed in such a way I couldn't install or remove the larger filter.
That said, it's probably an Old School approach to things. Modern engines, oil, and filters are all so good that trying to out-think the OEM engineer isn't all that necessary. - dnulnojExplorerThank you for quick response....why would I want a 1qt over a 1/2qt?
