I think CJ's had a rounded fender. This one's flat.

Ya the CJs were round, but so were the M38A1 in 52, so this could be either the M38 or CJ-3A. The CJ-3B was flat too, but I think they had the tall hood for the overhead valve engine.
Funny thing is - flat is back! Many kits out there to make "flatties" out of the new jeeps. Have been thinking about it for my 97.
I was in US Army in Europe, 1961 to 1963. Our Battalion had M38's until 1962 when we got M38A1's. In 1963 we got the M151 with the magnesium wheels.
My particular M38 was made in 1943! It refused to die. Probably due to good maintenance.
