It is difficult for me to put myself in your moccasins...but I think that if you seriously listen to Executive's advice and then narrow your search to units that were the flagships of their manufacturer at the time they were built you will be much happier than settling for anything less.
Real wood, large tankage, heated tanks, good thermal and acoustical insulation. system redundancy plus ease of use for all systems will be important for your family.
We started after our kids were adults and are not fulltime....but a unit that used best in class components and engineering will be worth quite a bit to you.
Don't worry about the 10 year old rule for a well looked after flagship. In May we stated for a week in a resort with such a rule....they did not blink an eye at the Eagle and she is 17 years old!
