I've searched online for diagrams but can't seem to find one :( - B_s_BunchExplorerHave you tried to look up a manual online sometimes they have exploded views and you could find where the starter is from there. Larry

It may just be me but when looking at the picture of the solonoid you show I dont believe there is a wire coming off of it large enough to provide the starter with enough current to crank it. Is there a larger wire just laying there and not connected to the solonoid. See if you are getting voltage to the starter itself. If not you may very well be missing this larger guage wire. Just my thoughts Good Luck Larry
The wire is there.. just not very visible.. I've search the web and cannot find the location of the starter. If I get to it, I can test and replace as needed. Just not having any luck. I believe the entire gen sits on a sliding tray that after removing two bolts it should slide out for better accesss, but is not budging. I may have to live in it for a little while so, It's important to me to get the generator running. - B_s_BunchExplorerIt may just be me but when looking at the picture of the solonoid you show I dont believe there is a wire coming off of it large enough to provide the starter with enough current to crank it. - jerseyjimExplorer1985. Does ONAN have parts going back that far? Does anyone? Good luck.....
- lamozExplorerthings ive done already.
replaced the solenoid..
voltage to the solenoid was 12.5 volts..
to eliminate the switch issues, I
jumped the solenoid with a wire and get a humming sound as if the starter wants to spin
turned the fan by hand and engine is not seized, i can feel the compresion stroke while i turn it..
i would like to get to the starter but I'm not sure where it is or what it looks like - jerseyjimExplorerClicking? Sounds like the start/stop switch may be burned out. Presuming you have an owners manual, find the part # and google it. Quite a few suppliers out there.
Also...your 12V (Starter) battery takes quite a while to charge marginal 6-volt batteries to start the generator. If the 6 volt (coach) batteries are dead, you gotta get new ones.
Also, repeated use of the starter switch when the coach batteries are quite a ways "down" burns the switch out really fast. The switch is a cheapo. Buy 2.
