This is a follow up question.5BGE gas powered (2000 Damon Intruder. Have replaced fuel pump and filter, but still shuts off when switch is released. Oil level is full, battery is fully charged. Probably needs a new carb, they are about $250 on amazon, the gas with ethanol really screw these carbs up, I now put stabil in every tank.

You will probably need to visit an authorized service shop Onan/CummingsThe fuel pump is probably driven by a relay.....but if the pump was going off with the switch, I would think it would run for 30 seconds or so before dying.I suspect that the "empty tank" safety would operate through that relay too......so it almost sounds like the ignition is being cut off when the start switch is released.Given the symptoms, it is definitely NOT a carb problem.

I had this happen on my 5k Onan. The first thing the generator does when it starts is look for 110v power. If no 11ov found it shuts down. I believe Cummins installed new brushes and cleaned the stator, but it's been a while (2 MH's back) so the stator part might not apply. The genny didn't throw an error code, so it took a diagnostic approach to find it.

Your situation may be different, just sharing my issue.

Don't you mean if you have less than a quarter tank of fuel the gen won't run? :)
