Turning on a branch breaker should not have any effect on the ems. It should have its control wired directly to the incoming buss.
And typically those 2 CB's also feed load shedding relays.
There have been several posts on these boards indicating 30A on a 50A plug which was resolved by turning on all CBs.
This arrangement may not be ideal but it's cheaper than 2 extra CBs just for 240V detection.
