The procedure may vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, but should be very similar. Rather than try to describe it, your best bet is to do a search on one of the manufacturer. For example, I just did a search on "carefree awning operation" and it came up with manuals and you tube videos. I'd try that and see if it looks similar to your awning.
