So when is the 'best' time of year to visit Oregon? We want to go there next year and would be traveling from the east.
There are 4 sections to Oregon .... beginning at the Idaho border lets say: Eastern, Central,Willamette Valley and the coast. For weather purposes .... seeing the sites in beginning of May thru October would be best suited for tourist activity. Eastern and Central can get warm in the summer farmland with a desert landscape. Willamette Valley with lots of farms and temps ranging from the 50's to the 80's. Although periodic high 80 temps can cause 50 degree temps at the coast. So depending on your sightseeing plans. Portland area is a lot different to see in comparison to Cottage Grove which has an abundance of Historic Wood Covered Bridges. The coast has approx 300 miles of rugid and beach sand to walk along. Gold Beach has jet boat rides taking several hours including lunch, Florence has beach sand dumes that you can rent ATV's or be taken on a tour. Really need to decide what you like to do, how much time do I have and what is my transportation. Suggest maybe you contact one of the state travel offices. I live in Springfield and know there is one right of I-5 and Beltway Hwy.
