over the air antennae maintenance

I've broken two cranks on the air antennae. I noticed it says to "Lubricate twice per year" after the second crank broke. I bought a new crank and don't wanna break another one. What and how do I lubricate the mechanism for the antenna?

Thanks

Bob
  • While you are on the roof check all the areas that have caulking on them and make sure there are no cracks in the caulk.
  • antenna down
remove the plastic cap nut located at the lift hub
spray spiral gear and tooth year with silicone lube
    replace nut
go inside and raise and lower antenna a few times to spread the lube
  • You don't even need to remove the black cap. You can see the gears with the antenna down. Spray some dry silicone in there and crank it up 45 degrees and spray a bit more, crank it all the way up and spray a bit more. This will cover the both gears nicely and you can crank it up and down 3-4 times to get a bit of penetration to the o-rings. You are good to go for another 6 months.
