Over the door awning

The Dometic Oasis Elite over the entry door has a motor that is burned out and a replacement is no longer available as Dometic no longer sells or supports this model.
I would like to go to a manual awning as a replacement. My rig is a 2006 Winnebago Vectra. Any experience with this situation or insight into getting a manual replacement. Thanks for any help I can get.
  • I see Dave T answered your question I hope. fiamma1@fiamma.com is the contact I have. I have the F45I Oasis Electric and they had all the parts for it.
  • See if it can be rebuilt. Check with shops that rebuild altenator and starters.
  • The manufacturer is Fiama who sold the parts to Dometic. Fiama is an Italian company but has a store in Florida. They have exact parts. The number is (407) 672-0091. You will need the model number off the awning when you call.

Mine in our 2004 broke and they had the part at 1/2 the cost of Dometic/AE.

    Good luck!
  • I had same problem, I have looked for the information on it. Don't
give up the guys name was Snyder. If I find info. I will send you a P/M...

We just replaced the motor on our 2002 Horizon, likely the same awning. They are sort of right. The same motor is not availabe, HOWEVER the tech was able to install a new motor (which fits INSIDE the roller tube) with minor modifications--just screw holes I think.

This is a "Before" pic (you can see why we had to replace it; they don't do well with overhead tree branches :S )

I'll try to get a pic of the new installation in a day or so.
  • Search for Carefree (carefree of Colorado) OTD (over-the-door) awning.
  • I realize this doesn't directly answer your question about converting to a manual awning, but I would consider removing the motor and getting it repaired at a motor rewind shop. It will be better than new at a fraction of the cost.

  • I had a manual awning on my 05 Diplomat. It was more work to open it, but when there was inclement weather (when you really need it) you didn't have to bring it in.

My new coach has a power awning so I'm more likely to use it, but have to bring it in when the weather gets bad.
