When I purchased my 2003 Dutch Star the lights had been replaced with Maxxima M72270R & Y both front and back. Nice appearance and look good in the dark. Several failed over the years and I have eventually replaced all of them. They seem to get a little moisture in the housing and corrode the connections inside the bulb itself, but are not too expensive or difficult to replace. I think the last ones I bought were about $14.00 each.
They are a surface mount and cover the unpainted area from the original lights well. They have 13 led's and a nice looking stainless steel bezel. If I remember right they also have a three year warrany and all of the ones I replaced had exceeded that.
I may at some point research something different in a Grote or Petersen (?sp) if (when) the need arises again. I don't know if something else is actually better, just would like to look at the options. Most of them today seem to be cheap plastic imports anyhow.
