overnight without disconnecting toad - level?

We haven't traveled far with the jeep yet.
Soo. If we are stopping overnight... can we dump the tanks and level with the jeep still attached?
Or... if we are close to level, don't send down the jacks but still put out the slides?

What does everyone else do?
