The Escapees' co-op parks operate completely differently. When you "buy in," you're not paying for a deeded lot, but a share in the corporation and are assigned a permanent lot. Thus, no property taxes, etc. You can "cash out" at any time without the hassle of trying to find a buyer - the corporation buys back your share. If there is another lot in the park that you like better than yours, you can put your name on a list for that lot when someone sells or "ages" out off the full-time lifestyle.
We are not members of an Escapees co-op, but as Escapees Club members, we are eligible to stay in the co-op parks. Each park has it's own set-up and rules, but we are particularly fond of Jojoba Hills Escapees' Co-Op in Aguanga, CA (just east of Temecula). If we didn't have nine grandchildren on the Eastern seaboard, we would buy into that one in a heartbeat! Many people winter there and spend the summer traveling. There are a number of folks who leave their fifth wheels (or some original members have park models that were grandfathered in) on their lot and have a Lazy Days or other class C do to their traveling in. It's a great bunch of people there and we plan to spend our four week limit (as non-co-op members there every year as long as we are able.
