Went to the storage yard this week, and found that something had been in my AC units INSIDE the coach making two nests. There were leaves, and these little pumpkin looking berries, about the size of walnuts. There had to be at least 30 of them in the grill of the AC unit. There was also rat poop all over inside, as well as pieces of the styrofoam insulation. There was at least 2-3" in the slide portion of the quick chill vent. I checked the AC units up on the roofs, and could not see ANY evidence of it getting in that way. Both were very clean, with only a hint of any poop. How else can they get into the AC area and the ceiling ducting. I didn't see any other evidence behind the fridge, or anywhere on the engine, etc. Nothing else at all in terms of where they could have gotten in. I am stumped. I also did not know that the two ac units shared a common ductwork. It somehow traveled from the bedroom to the living room, or vice versa. Weird.

Rats can get in a hole no bigger than your thumb. They are like contortionists.

After you get things cleaned out,stuff steel wool in every hole that you find,then put dryer sheets in your side bays,or Cab Fresh in your side compartments,and under the bed and thur out the coach, I refresh every 4 months,

There was no evidence of them getting through the roof ac's. The berries that it brought in were the size of walnuts, and there was no evidence of any sort that it got in through the AC unit. I do use steel wool in openings and havent had a mouse problem since I sealed everything up. There were literally 30 or more of these berries, along with leaves and rat poop directly above the ac vent. I just dont know how it got in.

I had a pack rat this summer...and he pushed out the steel wool I stuffed into holes. Escaped 3 rat size sticky pads too...but I finally got him in my live trap with peanut butter

Not all dryer sheets are created equal. It seems the cheaper the better. I've been using Gain from Dollar General for years. I accidentally left a new unopened box in my truck just one night. That was a week ago. Still smells like a French "you know what".

The problem is that I still have no idea how it got in there. The berries were the size of walnuts, and there was absolutely no signs of anything getting in through the roof a.c units. There would have been some berries, leaves or something that it couldn't have squeezed in. There were only a few turds, but that was it. I don't know how else that it could have gotten in though?

Rodents have collapsible spines they can get into very tiny area's. After you get them out of there use double 00 steel wool (very coarse) in all the holes and area's inside where they were at. They won't return with steel wool in there!

Don't think a squirrel could have gotten in. I will usually use D-COn inside the motorhome with sticky traps. I normally don't put anything inside the inside ac unit, as I have never had issues with mice or rats in there before. I will sprinkle rat poisen around and underneath the motor home next week.

D-Con, they eat it and leave to find water. No smell left from their little bodies.

This could also be a chipmunk or squirrel, too. Don't blame the rat. :) What do you have more of around your storage area?

Critters can get into anything want to.
Cost me $200 service call on my generator when it wouldn't start to find out a mouse was storing corn inside it.

This is how much corn they pulled out of the inside of the generator.

Great Stuff now makes a version of their expanding foam aerosol with built in pest repellent... the foam is greenish in color & contains some sort of nasty taste/smell to keep out all kinds of pests.... One night, I had the DW inside the bus with all lights on & a flashlight, me under the bus on a creeper.... We tried to illuminate & look at every square inch of the bus... in some spots I thought I was looking at the stars!!!! Amazing the number of holes we all have thru our MH's.. I then sealed all I could find with the foam.. Unfortunately, the mice know of at least one hole I haven't found!!!!!
