Folks, I have almost two months before my RV goes into production. This is purely subjective but all the paint jobs on RVs are a little too complicated and busy for me. Consequently I've considered a custom paint job on mine. Two dealers tell me that a solid color, possibly a deep green (?) would destroy resale value. It would tone down the vehicles appearance as well as make it look smaller? Personally I'd wager it would be less expensive instead of all the taping and different colors that go on all the stock paint jobs. Opinions please.Thanks.

Not sure what brand you are having built but with Tiffin any time that you deviate from the standard option it gets very expensive. Even a one color paint job is considered custom. However coaches a high any way so you need to get whatever you are happy with. If you worry about resale now you are buying it for the next guy. Buy it for yourself and enjoy.

personally i think the fancy paint and graphics age a coach faster....they fade & go outta style more quickly.No one ever thinks our coach is 10 yrs old.

If I were to repaint, I would select a solid beige, silver or white variation.I might add a few swooshes or something to break the monotony.I agree with bshpilot and path 1, simple is easier to repair, lighter is cooler, lighter appears clean longer. I also think the fancy paint jobs age the coach quicker. 2 colors is enough for me. My 10 year old Dutch Star had the fancy graphics which now look dated compared to some of the older simpler paint jobs.

But I will say the latest styles sure look nice.

i dont disagree - they look lovely ! but even at its dirtiest our coach looks clean.

From a practical stand point I would choose a white gel coated upper and a earth tone lower(from baggage doors down). Like others have said those swirls and stripes look dated after a while and I think the darker full body paint absorbs a lot more heat than the white. If you used a gel coat upper only a clear coat would need to be sprayed with little masking. Also pigment could be added to the lower section gel coat which would eliminate labor there also. I liked the two tone cars from the 50's but then again I'm old.

My MH is 11 years old and another MH owner thought it was brand new, still has the original Travel Supreme paint job done by Precision Painting in Bremen, IN. I would not trade it for what looks like a giant refrigerator going down the road, just my opinion.
