I know a guy who paid $26,000, but they removed all the windows, vents, air conditioners and antennas and recaulk them as part of the prep. And this was on a new coach!!!
Why did they remove all this, even when cars are painted the windows are not removed, seems like to much was done, could have saved $10,000 just to tape it off than repainted.. - tkranzExplorerHad our Winnebago Vectra 35' full painted with four colors last year about this time. Small town body shop that specializes in RV repairs for a big dealership. $8000 including minor body work. Outstanding job! We get compliments wherever we go. We know we got an unusually good deal because the shop, while experienced at RV body work and repairs, had never done a full paint job before. We were the guinea pigs and we were happy.
- snicksterExplorerCheck with Bruce Deaton in Red Bay AL. He is great and very reasonable. He has done several smaller paint jobs for me.
Price just depends on the design , but what I saw was in the 8-12,000 range.

Great work, great prices. Look at their video on their website for info about their process. They paint RV's for the manufacturers. They don't take credit cards so bring your checkbook. They: finished removing the 3M******on the front and touch up all the dings. Repaired dented bin door and repainted. Repaired small puncture on slide. Buffed scrape on top corner. Painted new AC cover. Sanded and reapplied clear coat on top cap. Touched up chips on all fenders. 3 days. Very pleased and highly recommend them.

- rgatijnet1Explorer IIIThe work I saw done in Mexico was decent quality but they were all mask and paint. Nobody that I know that had theirs painted in Mexico wanted to spend the month or so that it would take to remove everything, paint, and then reinstall windows, trim, etc. In fact, everyone that I saw lived in their coach during the painting process. Again, the paint looked fine but I have no idea how the paint held up for the long term. I believe the cost for the last complete paint that I saw in Mexico was around $8000.

I agree Ronnie, but you have to spend that type off amount to get a quality paint job, unless you could get the same work done in Mexico for a big savings?J-Rooster wrote:

X-2, I wanted a full body paint and was quoted $27,000.00
I hear the $12k plus paint stories, but what if you just wanted to paint it solid white? Does that save any significant money? I'd be happy with a solid one color motorhome myself.
Basically, if you want it done with a high quality, the major labor portion is going to be done in the surface preparation. Once everything is removed, and everything is sanded and filled, the paint is applied. The actual spray painting may take 2-3 hours, where as the prep work can take a 200+ man hours. Naturally you have the cost of the primer, paint, and clear coat to add to that.
To apply additional colors takes masking time and some minor surface prep, PLUS the cost of enough paint for the stripes, etc.
Basically what I am saying is that the major portion of the cost of a high quality paint job is the preparation. Once that is done, and the base single color is applied, it is just not that much more costly to apply additional colors unless you really want some wild artwork.
The only way to drop costs significantly is to sacrifice quality in the prep work. A basic sand the surface only, with no body work. Mask everything instead of removing anything. No clear coat and using a lower quality enamel paint instead of a polyurethane.
I know of no way to get a high quality long lasting paint job without spending a lot of money. Sort of like Earl Schieb who used to advertise he would paint any car for $99. Painted yes, but not the best quality preparation, paint, or materials. - popeye766Explorer
