Paint/Clearcoat Repair Peeling Above Windshield

I had the brow of my rig repainted and clearcoated in 2003 when it was 8+ years old. A local truck painting company did the work.

The rig is now 21+ years old and the brow is still good.

Cost back then was $1,000.

Well we had no idea of the extent of "peel" yesterday our Daughter in law installed our back up camera (got on the roof) and reported that the entire length of trim on the top along roof is bad, plus it is creeping towards the back panel and one can assume it won't be long before the back portion will be a major redo (its not visible from below yet)just as is the front.
So now I need to go back to square one and insist the Dealer repaint this as the cost is going to be higher than ever. Thank you all for the references as we are researching what can be done, it would not surprise me if the Dealer does not step up to the plate now! will see

The best place I have seen where they do quality work is in Hesperia, Ca. It is called Quality Auto Body Paint Shop.

They have done the crown on my coach like what the original post was asking, and they done an excellent job.

[COLOR=]yikes! just noticed the side panels on the top are peeling...the small strip that joins the roof to the side? now I may have to reconsider the costs of this..

Look around and see how many 2007 automobiles you see with the clear coat peeling on the roof. If the roof was peeling it was because it was not applied right and no wax could have saved it.

In our Paperwork I found the Color Scheme and the Bottled Paint Samples and all mixing Codes. I am sure this will save any Painter/Mixer a lot of time and effort. Will take it to our Trusted Long Time RV Center. I am just wondering if Preventive Waxing and special attention to that area would avoid this issue? Also for those of you who had it NOT LAST long could wax or? saved it?

Just go for it with warranty. If they give you a hard time tell them you'll post the dealings on RV.net. Plus google review.

I wouldn't use CDI. My sister bought a 2004 Itasca Meridian new and the paint went bad along the roof in about two years. They were referred to CDI under warranty. The paint work CDI did went bad almost as fast.

I know there are limited places to get this kind of work done, but there is a GREAT shop in Santa Clarita, just a couple of miles before the base of the Grapevine, called Final Touch. I had my Monaco roof repainted there several years ago and my Newmar Dutch Star done a couple of months ago. They did a nice job on both and guarantee their work/paint for life. They did mine in three days. You might be able to make arrangements to get it done in a couple of days since it's only one side and do some sightseeing in the area.

On both of my coaches, it was the dark colors that went bad on the roof. My Monaco was green, tan and dark brown. The dark brown went bad on the front and rear cap. I had them change the color to the tan and paint the front and rear cap above the running lights and the sides above the drip rail. When done, you couldn't tell that it wasn't the original color scheme.

On my Newmar, it had an all black roof line that went bad with a couple of stress cracks and some checking on the driver's side rear. I had them paint the entire roof line all white to match the white in my stripes and to prevent future issues. Again, you can't tell that it wasn't part of the original scheme.

I have similar issue with failing clear coat (plus the base color is faded) on the roof radius of my coach. We will be traveling thru Iowa late summer so plan to take the coach to CDI in Forest City. They have given me an estimate of $1,000 to repaint and clear the roof radius and as much of the top of the front cap as necessary to blend the job. The best price I have gotten locally is $1,800. You are obviously a long way from CDI for sure.

$1,200 to have it done right doesn't sound too bad. I'd jump on that if I could find someone locally to do it for that price.
