Paint/Clearcoat Repair Peeling Above Windshield

This is our 2nd Motorhome that the paint and or clear coat is peeling across the front above the Windshield, 2007 Pace Arrow and Winnebago Adventurer 2008. Both Class A's. We are now searching for a good price to have it done in San Diego CA. Our trusted RV repair Company has quoted us $1,200.00 and we know we will get a good job.
Just wondering what your experience has been with this common area problem? thanks!

  • Thanks for all your input. It is painful but has to be done! Winnebago has referred me to CDI which is the Company that did the full body paint as I had asked about possible help with this Issue. Guess I will give them a call.
  • I feel your pain. Just had mine redone along with the roof side rails. Last three years I put the old paint to a real test. Facing blazing desert sun all winter and facing southwest into the Pacific ocean in summer. Paint shop was Crown RV in Palm Desert. Said they see a lot. It is a clear coat thing. I was going to hire a guy who would do it in my sight but could never locate him. Everybody said go to Puerto Penasco where there are lots who do it in place. I ended up doing the professional paint booth route. They did a super job, plus resealed the roof.
  • Unfortunately the only way to do it right is to strip off the old clear coat lay down some of the original base color coats and then finish off with new clear coat. Reason for the $1200.

    Or do like suggested above.
  • If it is just on the top portion, why not mask off the area above the clearance lights and paint it white with one of the roof coatings. This is something you could do yourself, would hardly be visible from the ground, and will help keep the front of the coach cooler.
