Update on our Thor Palazzo 33.3:
We have taken 10 trips since taking delivery. As I type this I have it with the the dealer for the traditional "under warranty fix-it list". Unfortunately, a normal process for any new motor home...
Overall, very pleased with the unit. Have not had the problem with the overhead bunk that others have experienced.
Major areas of disappointment:
1) Battery Discharge Rate. This unit is made for camping with hook-ups. I was not aware the residential refrigerator did not run of LP (my fault - lesson learned). This unit has bunk beds -- thus kids -- thus refrigerator gets lots of use. Combine that with a entry light switch that turns on 6 lights and a bathroom switch that turns on 5 lights and this sucker draws some amps.
2) Switch Placement. There is no light switch at the base of the steps. We have to step into the unit to turn on the lights. After a night of drinking (hey, we are camping after all), getting into a dark rig is a little difficult.:: The In Use switch is at the base of the stairs. My kids hit this quite often as they go in and out of the rig.:: The water pump switch is on the main control panel which is above the base of the stairs. Again, this unit has bunk beds but kids can't reach the switch. Thus, we must keep water pump on all the time -- have I mentioned this unit draws a lot of power...
3) Did not come with battery disconnect for house batteries. When storing the unit I would shut off the disconnect and I could not figure out why the batteries would run low after only a few weeks in storage. I have since learned that the chassis batteries and house batteries should always be kept separate for back-up needs (hey, live and learn). I spent the $100 to have another disconnect installed but for the price I would have expected this to be done at the factory.
That's about it. Nothing horribly wrong - mostly inconvenient. As I like to day, if that is the worst part of your day, Life is Good!
