Parking Surface can effect an RV

Someone made a comment the other day that I would like to share and get your thoughts. I just purchased a new MH and now trying to figure out what is the best option where to store the vehicle when not in storage. He mentioned you do not want to park it over grass for the mositure from the ground will rust the bottom of the unit out. Also do not park it over lime chips for this will destroy the bottom of the vehicle as well. What is your thoughts and experience or suggestions on what I should consider? Also I have alot of concrete already in my yard and would like if at all possible to stay away from more concrete.

  • R,

The remark about grass is quite true, but the same cannot be said about all gravel. If gravel is deep enough to stay dry on top, then it is almost as good as solid pavement.

  • I think if we new where Oak Creek was we might be familiar with the Oak Creek climatic conditions which might play a role in your concerns.

For example, Ohio is going to have salt on the roads in the winter which might play a role in Ohio. Just saying. :)
  • I agree with the grass theory , I know of a F150 that sat on grass for yrs it had 28k on it and was a bucket of rust under side ,brake lines broke like a pretzel, mine sits in its own garage on cement 6yrs old looks like new under the belly.
