To their surprise, people paid $645 for shoes that were sold in their other store for $39.95. The purchasers raved about the high quality materials and workmanship for the exact same shoes they could have bought at PayLess. They were eventually given their money back, but it was a great lesson in how free enterprise works. For whatever reason, some consumers are willing to pay much more for a product than others, just because they figure that a higher price MUST mean high quality.
Ha...just like those Palessi wearing RV owners on these boards who claim higher price or higher weight MUST mean higher quality LOL.
Hey Ralph....
You wouldn't be referring to one of those tire threads, wouldja?
There's also RV buyers, who will swear that newer is better, rather than spend the same money for used with better quality.
As for branding, marketing is a powerful tool and have a cousin, who will only put Exxon gasoline in his car. Then there's the crowd that truly believes that Bayer aspirin is the only brand that will ward off a heart attack and is somehow different that a no name brand. I guess the Gov. allows certain companies to go outside FDA standards with some extra ingredients added, eh?
Story short, you don't always get what you pay for!
