Paying For Water

Staying here in Florida at Blueberry Hill a Sun Community RV park. They just got finish installing water meters so we can start paying for water! Was wondering if any other parks or charging for water and the names of the parks that are! Also how much or your water bills running?
Thanks

  • Water is so cheap by me, I can’t imagine metering an rv site unless it was for full time living. My 2,600 square foot home with 5 people showering at least once per day, 10 loads of laundry per week, washing cars and watering the lawn and I still only pay between $45 to $55 per month.
  • That doesn’t make sense. The expense of meters and billing and lost business will be hard to payback.

Just build it into the rent.

I’ve seen marinas charge with a meter for desalinated water but a campground?

Yup, paying for sewer is here already. I was directed to a dump site and there was an electronic atm like machine that controlled a locking lid over the sewer connection. You pay your 5 bucks, then you have 30 seconds to lift the lid, an you get a something like 5 minutes to dump. Then the lid locks when let down. The lid is on a hinge type arrangement.

The last Sun RV park (+25 years old) I stayed in (east San Diego area) was a full service RV resort park and a bit expensive at +-$725/month plus metered electricity @ $.155/kwhr. Although they had over 250 spaces, many of them were larger spaces with full time residents living in +40' long higher end RV's. No water meters as of 3 years ago. At the cost of water, meters, and accounting, I find it troubling that the idea of metering water would be more desirable than adding a water surcharge to the monthly rent for long term residents just like a typical apartment.

Oh well, everybody's got to make a buck somehow.

  • Water might be expensive or if the community has limited rights or resources might well be the justification for individual meters, rr225. Poo pooing this expense as unnecessary without more information is unwise.

I had to pay $7 to dump in a campground last week. Surprised me, never had to pay to dump in a CG I was camping in before.

Paying for water wouldn't fly around here, the local water district has made it illegal to sub-meter water. Want to keep all those connection fees lol.

  • I have never stayed in a Full Hook-up RV park that charged for water.
When we were full-timers, we stayed at parks where the electric service was metered, but never the water.
    I think I would move.
