Win, Next time you're under your new Travato, how about looking to see how the Onan is identified. The brochure pack would be another source. As far as I know, the current Onan 2800 is the almost new 'QG', which supposedly stands for 'Quiet Generator'. I'm wondering if you got the old Microlite 2800, which is supposedly noisier.
At any rate, you may want to look at adding the Onan exhaust resonator, which will quiet it a little and smooth out the 'barking' sound. If you're a DIY'er. there's more you can do, too.
