You are correct. I wont be driving over curbs with this vehicle. I would say the clearance is about the same as any suv. There is one retracting step to get inside and without it its a climb. The low floor makes for great drivability,since the height is 9 ft. For people like me that live in suburbia, it gives me greater access to roads. There is a bit of compromise. The fresh tank is inside and both the house battery and generator are under chassis. The tank capacity is slightly smaller than sprinter conversions, but it wasn't significant for a weekend of travel including two showers.
