Pictures of Samsung RF197 install

Last month I installed a Samsung RF197 in my coach. I finally got around to posting pictures of the install on my blog. If anyone is interested, you can find the clicky above my picture below.

Any questions or comments may be made here or by PM and I'll answer them as quickly as I can.....Dennis
  • The first HINT of trouble from my norcold this is what is going to replace it . I will not even attempt to repair it .
Thanks- very clear series ,what are you doing for inverter /batteries for short term boondocking ?
or are you just not concerned about it?
  • My inverter and battery bank will work with no problem. That said, we are full timers who rarely boondock so we don't worry about it...the information I've received indicates our inverter and four battery bank are sufficient.....Dennis
  • Nice install Dennis. I did mine myself also for the same reason. Like many others have said, should have done it sooner. Marty
  • Just now looking into doing this. Your concise explanation of installing the Samsung takes a lot of guess work out of the process. Your efforts in putting this into pics is very much appreciated. Very nice.

  • Nice install Dennis, and good pic's with explanations of how you went about it. Especially liked the angle iron support and 3/4' plywood base - very solid approach.

I will tease you about going to the "Residential Fridge Side!". You invested some coin in the Amish Cooling Unit too, as I recall. But, if you don't boondock often, understand the residential swap out reasons.

What is your battery bank size? (More from gee whiz interest, then it really matters with your usage.)

I saw your earlier posts and pics, and thus the ice makers water line frustrations. We disconnected our ice make, and removed it, to make more space in the freezer. Use cube trays for making ice. Have the Amish Cooling Unit too, with added fans and the SS-30 as extra insurance.

While we are just now starting to boondock, and expect to do so more in the future. I did beef up our battery bank (now 800AH) and went overkill on the Solar Panel install with 1200W of high efficiency panels. We're fully charged most days before noon, and so far have only had to run the generator for roof AC, Convection Oven usage or to exercise.

I figured if we ever do either want more fridge space, or the 1200 goes out - I should be able to jump to residential without any problems.

Thanks again for sharing your install, I've bookmarked your blog for future reference.

    Best, have fun, be safe,
    Smitty
