How did you determine there was no discount? At many Pilot/J stations when you Show or Scan your Discount card, the price on the pump is discounted. So, you then pump say 100.00 worth of fuel, expecting a discont, but the discount was applied AS YOU PUMPED, so it's 100 when you pay.
Had you not shown the card that same AMOUNT of fuel, would have cost more.
The joy of modern computer pumps... Same, I might add, is true at Wal*mart/Murphy's.
Just now if you go into the Wal*mart and hand them cash (or your credit/debit card) and an "Empty" wal*mart gift card and say "Fill 'er up" as I did last Friday.. Then you go out to the pump and insert and remove the gift card... And watch the price windows on the pump... You will see the ten's digit decrement one dime per gallon when the card is read approved. So 3.41 becomes 3.31 just like magic.
