I just came by Flying J in Seffner Fl. and the price of diesel was 3.45 per gallon. The highest of any fuel station I have seen in weeks. The price down the road at Racetrac was 3.05 and Hess was 3.06 so that is quiet a big difference. Cash back and discount does not cover that difference....
If that is the Flying J right next to Lazy Days RV then they are probably trying to rip off the RVers going in and out of there this time of year.
I only use Flying J, Pilot, and Loves when traveling and hooked up to my fiver. I have the Pilot app, Loves app, and GasBuddy app on my phone. My pre-trip planning for each day involves mapping out my fuel stops. I know in advance how much diesel is at those stations compared to small local gas stations. I won't try to fit into a gas staion built for cars in order to save .10 or .20 a gallon, which for me means saving about $2.00 on a fill up. If I need to save that $2.00 dollars on a few fill ups then I have no business traveling across the U.S.A. in a vehicle that gets about 12mpg anyway.
In the case of the original post, I would not pay that much difference for fuel. It is one thing to spend $2.00 more for a fill up, but $8.00 or more is getting a little ridiculous.
For me fueling at truck stops is more than worth it. You get in and out easily, no waiting while a car in front of you leaves their vehicle at the pump and goes inside the station to buy cigerettes, sodas, candy, and whatever else they do in there for 15 minutes. At least at most truck stops the trucks pull up and out of the way before going inside.
Your fuel is dispensed quicker. You can top off you DEF right at the pump. There is a 5' or 6' window washing brush instead of one made for compact cars which does me no good.
If you need a break after fueling you can go back into a space instead of just fueling and going.
I always try to end my travel day needing fuel. Then I may visit a local station after dropping the fiver.
