Really appreciate all these thoughtful replies. Like 401Nailhead (and probably a lot of folks on this forum) I tend to do lots of research, and enjoy doing that. One of the things that sounds right is that I should broaden my search beyond Roadtreks. I happened on Roadtreks some time ago when I started this whole enterprise, and they seemed to be well regarded for quality, etc. But to mkguitar's point, you have to separate the chassis from the coach build, and it sounds like multiple models/brands use the same chassis, so then it's a matter of finding a quality coach that best suits my needs.
As I mentioned, I will be traveling solo most of the time. My wife is still working and plans to do so for some years. (She's a marriage counselor, so there's no arguing with her about it! LOL!) I'm not particularly tall (5'11"... may have shrunk to 510" by now with age) so length of bed shouldn't be an issue. (I am pretty hefty, though, at 275.)
I'd like to be able to do some dry camping... I'm into wilderness, and will probably do more of that vs. campground camping. (I'm not talking about off-roading, though... suspect that would be beyond the capabilities of most B's.) I like the idea of a Class B because I want to be able to use this as my daily driver even when I'm home. I'd also like to be able to do some "stealth camping," where I can just pull in someplace for the night... and not attract a lot of attention.
As far as amenities, I'd like to be in something that is comfortable to lounge around in... I'll be doing a fair amount of writing, and even though I'm retiring from my "main" job, I also do executive coaching and consulting... much of which can be and is done by phone. (I plan to get a cell signal booster, so if anyone has ideas on that, it would be great!)
I also love to cook, but I realize that I'll really have to scale that down considerably in a van. I would like to bring a tiny grill of some sort, so would need storage for that. I'll have a guitar with me, and a small telescope... all the stuff for the scope (eyepieces, etc.) fits into a carry-on size suitcase. And I'll have a fly rod or two, and minimal fishing tackle.
Hmmm... Sounds like a lot of stuff as I reflect on it.
Thank you again for all the great help and thoughtfulness here...
