I bough a winegard satellite oval dish with a tripod for $8.00 at a back yard sale. I tried to set it up for my motor home tv with my home receiver, all i get is a message saying that it can't commun...

ah, toss the $8.00 dish and get a compatible one, don't get a lesser receiver.
