portable water softener
Would like to get feedback-positive or negative-on the need of a water softener. We are full-timers and spend six months in Mesa, AZ and six months traveling. All comments will be appreciated.

If RO systems didn't throw 2/3 of the water down the drain I think they would be a great option as well. They are also extremely slow to produce water so filling a 100+ gallon tank (in my case 165 gallons) is a time consuming project unless you are parked for an extended period. Not sure what it costs to replace the filters and membrane when used for that amount of water.
