By surface traffic do you mean more stopping than going? IF so you will add extra heat from the torque converter having to slip while stopped. When I see I'll have to stop for more than a minute or two I'll shift into Neutral which helps to cool the tranny, not heat it. 218 is not going to hurt anything.
