Pre-Purchase Advice - '98 Allegro Bus or '99 Rexhall

Hello all and thanks for being such an AWESOME source of RV information. I've been a lurker for quite some time as I've had the RV bug for a while now and have gone from eyeing small trailers to now starting to get serious about an older Class A. I was originally resistant to the idea due to extra costs (storage, extra maintenance tags, etc.) but the wife didn't join my obsession until we spent some time looking at Motorhomes. I think I've come to really like the layout and benefits of a Class A and just might have found a few to really be serious about from a local dealer.

My initial interest was a $25k 1999 Rexhall Rose Air with 77K miles on a Ford V10 that's had lots of interior restoration and upgrades as well as a Banks system, added over/under drive and tire pressure monitoring system. I could tell this coach was well cared for but haven't had my head in the engine compartment yet. From what I'm reading I also like that it sounds like Rexhall's use a welded steel frame and a molded fiberglass roof.

Then I started second guessing myself and thought my limited budget might be better served by going with a much cheaper $12K 1998 Tiffin Allegro Bus at the same dealer. I like the layout and style of Allegro's and have read good things about them, but I'm concerned with this being an older one about the P37 chassis with the Chevy V8. I'm not a Chevy fan to begin with but I can get over that, my concern is whether this is going to be an older design chassis and engine with possible headaches and weak performance/mpg (I know, not supposed to worry about mpg in a class A but I do so there).

Any general or equipment specific advice would be much appreciated!

Thanks!
