Still agree, except one point.

Agree - The Firestone TransForce HT looks like a very good tire at a very good price. Equivalent to M/S2

Agree - Michelin XPS Rib, Bridgestone Duravis R250 are a step up. I went R250 when I realized how heavy/close to GAWF and tire ratings we were.

Agree - America's Tire (Discount Tire in other parts of the country, same outfit, same warranties) "Certificates" are a good idea

Disagree - If you install Tire Man or Dually Valves (Borg) you can check tires easily with wheel simulators in place. If you add "air through" caps, even faster. Tire Man (Chuck) started shipping his kits with such caps. I don't know if Borg (Bill) has started to do that also or not, but they're available at NAPA in sets of four. If you have a Spare, you need seven caps.

Neutral - Alcoas are beautiful, no doubt. But if it matters to you, you probably can't do much in the area of Tire Rotation. The sets I've seen keep the steel inner dual, and I think some are polished on only one side. If both are still true, you could only switch LR to RR, and LF to RF. I specified aluminum wheels on a van we ordered in 1992 and still have. After a few bouts with the tire shop, they don't stay perfect and it's hard to get the look back. Also, many shops have only rim-mounted balance weights and those detract from the look. There's stick-on balance material they cut by the inch to get the weight, but not all that common.

Michelin LTX M/S2's are good. XPS ribs are better. Of course they cost a bit more. M/S2's are affordable and run good. If you buy at Americas Tire, buy the certificates, that way if something goes wrong, the $9 insurance for full replacement is $60 well spent. If there is recall again you can get replacements like I did. Certificate purchase goes with new tires, don't have to come out of pocket. If a recall happens again I'm putting the ribs on with Alcoa rims with tire man extended valves. Best way to go. No pulling off the wheel covers to check tires, pita if you ask me.

Each his own. I don't care for Michelin. Right now we are running on Firestone.

Agree with all of the above. We were very pleased with that Bridgestone equivalent^^^ It's actually called "Duravis R250" and we just had another set installed.

However, Michelin has a recall campaign on their LTX M/S (prior to the MS2). They're doing a free replacement if the tires are between certain date codes. Since the LTX M/S was original equipment on Ford Class C chassis, you just might win a $1500 lottery.
