Preparing for winter

Hello, I am a new owner of a class A diesel (a 2003 Fleetwood). I am looking for a good article on preparing for winter. Can someone recommend one for me?

Here is my thinking so far:

I plan to drain the water tank and pour RV antifreeze into the sink traps.
I will have a space heater inside.
I live in Oregon's Willamette Valley. I plan to store it outside and uncovered. Will I run into trouble this way?

Thanks in advance

  • You will want to at minimum blow out the water lines using low pressure air. After that its up to you whether you pump anti freeze thru the lines or not. Dont forget to add antifreeze to thr toilet and shower traps. Do you have an ice maker or washer on board? If so you will need to add antifreeze to those too. Lived in Gresham for 41 years, and yes until I got a washer all I did was blow out the lines, and add antifreeze to the toilet and P traps. Never had an issue.
  • Welcome! Think about air blowing the water lines. Space heater may not warm basement. When my TT is not in use, it’s covered. Helps preserve the roof and the shine on vertical surfaces IMO.
