I had a similar experience a few years ago that prompted me to switch our motorhome coverage from Allstate to Progressive. I even upped my coverage a bit and still saved nearly half over the previous Allstate premium. When I got quotes on our two cars though, the premiums were within a few dollars of each other. Add in that Allstate carries the homeowners insurance on our Adirondack cottage, which qualifies us for an additional multi-policy discount, and changing to Progressive would have cost us more. Progressive will not insure the cottage because it's 40 square feet under their minimum size for HO coverage.
